Grounded for eating in Korea !
One of most typical Korean custom I have come across until now is the tradition of removing your shoes before entering the restaurant and sitting down on at floor level and eating.
I remember that as a child I have been exposed to this kind of eating custom but as I grew older I just grew out of it. And lo behold! when the dining table entered our home that tradition died out. But in many urban (not to mention almost all rural) homes in India, people still eat on the floor.
Coming back to dining customs in Seoul. I think its great that Koreans have managed to maintain their traditional way of eating food. Its a very difficult for cultures to give up convenience to stick to traditional customs.
However, I love the food and Korean food is definitly rising in my list of favvourite cuisines (top two being Indian & Chinese).
